Combating poverty through occupational therapy

Poverty is present throughout the world, although it appears in different patterns. For example in Norway, which is a wealthy country, generational poverty is basically nonexistent. Economic poverty in Norway is defined as income less than 60% of the annual median disposable equivalized household income (Povlsen et al., 2018). As documented in Wikipedia (2023), 43% of the poor are immigrants. Of the immigrant population, poverty rates are highest among people from the Middle East and Africa (countries with extreme poverty). Included in the demographics of all the poor in Norway are children less than 18 years of age.
