House Committee Moves Bill That Will Clear Path for Reimbursement of Occupational Therapy Assistant Services under TRICARE

A major victory for occupational therapy assistant services may be at hand. A bill moving forward in the House of Representatives includes language that provides direction to the Department of Defense (DOD) to change practice in the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Uniformed Services (CHAMPUS), or TRICARE. In May, the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) confirmed that Tricare at present will not cover services provided by occupational therapy assistants (OTAs)
