Webinar: Where Does Health Care Reform Stand?
This webinar, presented on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 to state association presidents and legislative chairs, covers three state-level policy initiatives related to the 2010 health care reform law that AOTA has been watching during the summer of 2018. It covers changes to state EHB-benchmark plans, the expansion of non-ACA compliant Association Health Plans (AHPs) and short-term plans, and state reinsurance programs. It is about 1 hour long.
Since this webinar originally aired, there have been important developments for each of these policy initiatives:
- Two states, Illinois and Alabama, proposed changes to their EHB-benchmark plans. Illinois is seeking to expand coverage to combat the opioid epidemic, while Alabama is seeking to reduce the number of covered prescription drugs.
- The federal government finalized the AHP and short-term plan regulations, largely as proposed. Under the new rules, short-term plans can last up to 364 days and can be renewed for as long as 36 months.
- Wisconsin and Maine were granted waivers from the federal government allowing them to set up reinsurance programs.
