Welcome to our new website

AOTA developed the new AOTA.org website to create a more positive and welcoming online experience for all. We recognized that the needs and expectations of members of the occupational therapy profession and members of AOTA had evolved, as has the digital landscape, especially with COVID-19. Throughout the site, you will see information delivered in more modern ways that equip practitioners to be successful, and advance the profession overall. 

To ensure that the website would best meet the needs of the profession, AOTA followed a best practice process for its development. Over a yearlong period, we engaged the perspectives of occupational therapy practitioners, partnered with technology experts, and reimagined the website content. The development of the website was informed by the needs and insights of occupational therapy practitioners and will continue to be refined and developed based on feedback. 

Creating an inclusive website that increases access to all that AOTA has to offer to ALL who visit the website was a key goal throughout the website redesign process. We are proud to share that the new website is 98% compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Level AA, which is the gold standard for the industry. The site is designed to meet this standard on all types of technology, including mobile devices. To learn more, read our accessibility statement. 

The entire website—including the technology powering it, the structure, the navigation, the content, and the design—were all modernized to align with the current needs of occupational therapy practitioners. This means that previously saved or bookmarked links may not function, but it does not necessarily mean that the information is no longer featured on the website. To find the new location of the desired content, we recommend using the main menu to navigate to your areas of interest or using our enhanced search function to locate specific resources. The search function features new filters to help you see all AOTA has to offer or narrow in on a specific type of content.  

AOTA is continuously updating the information and guidance on the website to reflect best practices and current information, and as a result outdated information may no longer be available on the website. If you have tried the search and are still unable to find what you are looking for, please let us know by emailing customerservice@aota.org. If the resource is available, a customer service representative will be happy to assist you. We value your feedback and consider your requests as we continue to evaluate and add to the website's content and functionality.

As AOTA embarked on the website redesign, we also took the opportunity to review and remove materials that may no longer be reflective of the most current evidence and best practices. We will be working on an ongoing basis to replace this content with current, reliable information for our member and consumer audiences.  

No. CommunOT will remain our member-only online forum for participating and engaging in discussions with your occupational therapy colleagues. Connect with OTs, OTAs, educators, and students who understand your unique aspirations and challenges.  

Members of the AOTA Web Team are working in coordination with AOTA Customer Service and AOTA staff from across the Association to assist members when needed.
