Disability justice frameworks: Education and advocacy among neurodivergent young adults

Background

Australian sociologist Judy Singer devised the term neurodiversity to describe the natural variations in brain functioning among people (Chapman, 2021; Singer, 1998). From this, the word neurodivergent was born to recognize neurocognitive diversity among people with diagnoses such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and dyslexia (Exceptional Individuals, 2020; Rindahl, 2021).
