Experiential learning theory in fieldwork education

How comfortable are you as a fieldwork educator in using learning theory to foster student growth? Occupational therapy education programs rely heavily on practitioners to expand learning and application during the Level II fieldwork process, making fieldwork educators an integral part of the education system (American Occupational Therapy Association [AOTA], 2016). Preparation to become a fieldwork educator includes the development of skills in the roles of supervisor, educator, mentor, guide, and evaluator (DeIuliis & Hanson, 2023; Dunn et al., 2020). Each plays a critical part in a student’s development.
