Strengthening access to occupational therapy with legislative initiatives
AOTA has successfully advocated for introduction of legislation that supports and expands access to occupational therapy across a range of priorities. Although we frequently report on our efforts around telehealth, mental health, home health, and Medicare reimbursement, our advocacy spans a greater range of issues. These efforts have led to the successful introduction of several bipartisan bills that address long-standing challenges in Medicare Advantage, expand opportunity for occupational therapy in falls prevention, and promote greater flexibility and opportunity for occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) by allowing them to opt out of Medicare.
