When writing triggers avoidance: A school-based approach for access to written work

Many school-based occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) recognize this referral: the concern is listed as handwriting, but the student’s difficulties appear before meaningful handwriting begins. The worksheet is placed on the desk, and the student hums, negotiates, leaves their seat, pushes the paper away, or refuses before the pencil shows what the student can do.
