Thinking on their feet: The next generation of pediatric occupational therapists

In pediatric settings, the unpredictable nature of working with children means new occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) must be ready to pivot at any moment (Moir et al., 2022). Practitioners may need to adjust to shifting needs on the spot, to unexpected behaviors, or to family dynamics. At the same time, they need to juggle cultural considerations, limited resources, and teamwork with other professionals. Thriving in this environment requires sharp reasoning; flexibility; and the ability to make quick, effective choices that help children succeed.
