Building trust and community: A vision for a vibrant AOTA

Natalie Chang Wright, Dale A. Coffin, and Catherine R. Hoyt, recently sat down with Arameh Anvarizadeh, OTD, OTR/L, FAOTA, Professor of Clinical Occupational Therapy at the University of Southern California Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, and the American Occupational Therapy Association’s (AOTA’s) President-Elect.  

Celebrating a historic milestone, Dr. Arameh Anvarizadeh, the first Black and Iranian person to lead the profession of occupational therapy, prepares to assume the presidency of AOTA on July 1, 2025, with a powerful vision for transformation and growth. Known for her passionate advocacy, commitment to diversity and inclusion, and extensive service to the profession, Dr. Anvarizadeh shared her perspectives on leadership, community building, and the future of occupational therapy.
