School-based movement integration: Collaborating with teachers and implementing strategies

Movement positively affects student success in the occupation of learning (Petrigna et al., 2022). Considering that 24% of occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) work in schools or early intervention and community education settings (American Occupational Therapy Association, 2023), we are well positioned as related service providers and specialized instructional support personnel to collaborate with both special and general education teachers to facilitate school-based movement integration. In this article, I discuss strategies for effective collaboration and movement integration.
