Doing, being, belonging, and becoming: An occupational response to trauma

Traumatic events are a reality we face. They occur every day and affect every nation and every living being on this planet. They may be personal, such as accidents, medical emergencies, or domestic and community-based violence. They may be climate related, such as fires, earthquakes, hurricanes, and floods. They may be systemic and connected to war, terrorism, displacement, or mass violence. They may be linked to public health as in pandemics, illness outbreaks, or food system contamination. Regardless of socioeconomic status, geographic location, privilege, or access to resources, many traumatic events will continue to affect us during our lifespan.
