Certified community behavioral health clinic nationwide expansion
In 2015, Congress created a demonstration program to provide a significant, new federal investment in community behavioral health care. The goal was to provide comprehensive mental health and substance use services ranging from crisis response to psychiatric rehabilitation services. When the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) created the criteria for these new Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs; https://bit.ly/428cSZj), AOTA and OT advocates from across the country were successful in ensuring that OTPs were among the list of suggested staffing for CCBHCs.
