State legislative update

The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) works with state occupational therapy association leaders daily to identify, evaluate, and monitor proposals that could affect the profession. During the 2026 state legislative sessions, state occupational therapy associations addressed many legislative issues, including the Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact (OT Compact), scope-of-practice challenges, occupational therapy practice act updates, and salary supplement legislation.
