PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This webinar represents the third and final session in this series exploring the role of occupational therapy in driving and community mobility. We have explored topics of the generalist occupational therapy practitioner (OTP) and the processes for providing adaptations and vehicle modifications. Today's session focuses on the opportunities for advancing specialty occupational therapy practice in driving and community mobility. Inherent in this discussion includes exploring the variety of driver specialty pathways and strategies to maximize collaboration across the continuum from generalists to specialists.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the variability of driver specialization credentials and skills for occupational therapy and non-occupational therapy practitioners.
- List a minimum of three providers with whom occupational therapy practitioners should consider collaborating with to optimize outcomes in diver rehab.
Speakers

Susie Touchinsky
Susie Touchinsky, OTR/L, SCDCM, CDRS is an occupational therapist and Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist with Specialty Certification in Driving and Community Mobility from AOTA. As the owner of Adaptive Mobility, she is a leading educator for occupational therapy practitioners entering the field of driver rehabilitation. Susie actively volunteers with professional associations, she currently serves on the NMEDA Board, to advance best practice in driving rehab and occupational therapy.

Jamar Haggans
Jamar Haggans, MS, OTR/L, CPHQ, FNAP, is AOTA’s Director of Quality, where he focuses on ensuring the occupational therapy perspective is included in national quality and value initiatives. Prior to joining AOTA, he worked as a regional director responsible for the clinical outcomes and regulatory compliance at facilities across several states.

Amy Lane
Amy Lane, OTR/L, CDRS is the Director of Education, Training & Conference at the NMEDA. Prior to this, she was a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Rehabilitation Science & Technology at the University of Pittsburgh and managed a comprehensive driver rehabilitation program. She has more than 35 years of experience practicing as an occupational therapist, with more than 25 of those years dedicated to the field of driver rehabilitation and auto-mobility industry.
