Social emotional spaceships: A tiered preschool classroom program

Students face various challenges that influence social–emotional learning (SEL) across school settings. They may experience difficulties managing depression, anxiety disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive–compulsive disorder, and emotional–behavioral disorders. These challenges can contribute to academic difficulties, behavioral problems, absenteeism, and difficulties in social participation (Rossen & Cowen, 2014). Additionally, students in urban education settings may experience chronic stressors such as poverty, community violence, homelessness, or abuse (Rossen & Cowan, 2014).
