Intraprofessional learning in occupational therapy education: Community-based home assessment

Collaborative learning between occupational therapist (OT) and occupational therapy assistant (OTA) students is essential to preparing graduates to function effectively in clinical environments. The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA, 2024) has emphasized that intraprofessional partnerships built on mutual respect, understanding of roles, and shared responsibilities are critical in promoting high-quality service delivery. Educational programs need to include structured experiences that model and foster this collaboration early in professional development (AOTA, 2018; Carson et al., 2018).
