In the Community

A student-led task-specific training group bootcamp for individuals post-stroke

Student-led activities, clinics, and community programs are a growing trend in occupational therapy education programs (Miller et al., 2024). When occupational therapy students implement intervention strategies in an experiential setting, they gain firsthand experience through translating classroom learning to application in the real world (Goldbach & Stella, 2017; Miller et al., 2024). Replicating from the evidence and implementing these types of programs benefit students through better preparing them for patient care experiences during fieldwork and their professional careers (Goldbach & Stella, 2017; Miller et al., 2024). Experiential experiences can be transformational, leaving an impact on students long into their careers as occupational therapy practitioners (Caine et al., 2025). These experiences may also be used for student reflection opportunities and enhanced knowledge of client-centered interventions.
