Incorporating accessible life-story work into occupational therapy for older adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) are living longer than previous generations and are subsequently experiencing aging-related issues. Some of these issues are like those of the general population (Perkins & Moran, 2010). Others are unique to people with I/DD, including higher incidences of mobility and balance impairments, dental hygiene issues, and hearing and vision changes (Haveman et al., 2010).
