Hand Therapy for Gunshot Wounds: An Integrated Model for Addressing the Broader Occupational Context
Debra was a 35-year-old African-American self-employed hairstylist who had sustained significant trauma to her left upper extremity as a result of a gunshot wound (GSW) in her left shoulder, requiring emergency forearm fasciotomy and brachial artery repair. She had lost considerable function in her left (non-dominant) hand, including the ability to return to her job, which required frequently using both hands, and she showed signs of complex regional pain syndrome. She
