AJOT seeking applicants for Editor-in-Chief position

The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) is seeking an experienced SCHOLAR/EDITOR to edit its bimonthly peer-reviewed journal on a contract basis. The position is a 3-year appointment starting July 1, 2026.

The scope of work includes planning each issue of the American Journal of Occupational Therapy; soliciting manuscripts and other materials; maintaining relationships with contributors, members of the AJOT Editorial Board, the AOTA Board of Directors, and AOTA headquarters staff; writing and editing material for publication; managing the peer review process; chairing the annual Editorial Board meeting, either at the AOTA Annual Conference & Expo or online; meeting by phone and/or online with the Editorial Board and reviewers as needed; tracking all manuscripts as required; and other related duties. In addition, the Editor-in-Chief will work to maintain and increase the journal’s impact factor using best practices. Experience in journal publication is required; association experience and experience editing peer-reviewed publications, as well as a high comfort level with electronic workflow, are preferred.
