Shifting the profession from only being culturally competent to incorporating cultural humility into everyday practice, can increase the effectiveness of health care interventions, reduce health disparities that fall along cultural lines, and increase the relevance of occupational therapy as it develops globally; it can also increase quality of care, rapport with clients, and client experiences/outcomes. By educating oneself on different cultural practices and routines and actively incorporating cultural humility into practice, occupational therapy practitioners will become more inclusive and provide equal and equitable care to their clients.
