PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This webinar introduces occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) to social prescribing as an innovative response to the growing loneliness epidemic. Grounded in principles of occupational science, social prescribing connects individuals to meaningful, non-clinical, community-based activities—such as art, nature, movement, social connection, and service—to enhance participation, improve wellbeing, and reduce social isolation. Participants will explore core principles, global and US models, and the critical yet underutilized role of OTPs, while gaining actionable strategies to integrate social prescribing into occupational therapy practice.
Learning Objectives
- Define social prescribing, including the four key steps in the social prescribing pathway.
- Identify two similarities and two differences between the principles of occupational therapy and social prescribing.
