Navigating the Readiness of a Client for ASI Intervention

During this presentation, participants will learn about utilizing structured clinical observations to assess and hypothesize underlying sensory motor factors impacting participation utilizing ASI framework and the Data Driven Decision Making Process for clients who are not yet able to participate in structured, standardized assessment.
Participants will gain insight in utilizing the Sensory Integration Interpretation tool as well as the ASI Fidelity Measure to guide planning and conducting intervention.
A video based case presentation will be provided to demonstrate application of ASI principles to improve the underlying sensory motor factors to improve participation in these clients.
Elke van Hooydonk, OTD, OTR/L, is a pediatric occupational therapist working in an outpatient, hospital based rehabilitation setting. Elke participated as an interventionist in multiple research studies investigating the efficacy for Ayres Sensory Integration in autistic children.
Joanne Hunt, OTD, OTR/L, is the clinical lead for occupational therapy at a pediatric, outpatient, hospital based rehabilitation setting. Joanne participated as an evaluator for multiple research studies investigating the efficacy for ASI in autistic children. Joanne was the co-primary investigator in a recent feasibility study utilizing ASI with autistic children 3-5 years of age.
