Dry Needling to Support Occupational Performance

Nathan Short will present the use of dry needling as an intervention to support occupational performance.
The session will include an overview of dry needling theory and supporting evidence, review of related anatomy of the upper extremity using cadaver specimens, followed by case studies involving dry needling as a component of a broader OT-based plan of care with an emphasis on occupational outcomes.
Nathan (Nate) Short, PhD, OTR, CHT, FAOTA is a professor of occupational therapy at Abilene Christian University and serves clinically at West Texas Rehabilitation. He is the author of Functional Anatomy for Occupational Therapy and its companion text, OT Guide to Goniometry & MMT. His research interests include dry needling, orthopedic assessment, and cross-cultural practice.
