Great leadership starts from within. In this session, participants will explore the mindset and skills needed to lead with authenticity, integrity, and purpose. Learn how to communicate a clear vision, build trust, influence others, and navigate change with confidence. Through practical insights and real-world examples, you'll discover how to lead in a way that reflects your values while inspiring and empowering those around you. Whether you're an emerging leader or looking to strengthen your leadership approach, this session will help you develop the confidence and skills to make a meaningful impact.

Session Speaker

Dr. Nicole Villegas, OTD, MSOT, OTR/L, is an occupational therapist and founder of the Sensory Conscious® Institute, with a career spanning clinical practice, education, and entrepreneurship. Their work explores how sensory experience, nervous system regulation, and meaningful occupation shape health, leadership, and everyday life. Over the past decade, Nicole has mentored post-professional graduate students at Boston University and enjoys guiding practitioners as they navigate new possibilities in their practice. As a queer, multiracial, first-generation college graduate, Nicole brings lived and professional perspectives to conversations about identity, belonging, and leadership. They enjoy creating space for thoughtful questions and honest conversations while helping practitioners build careers that reflect who they are and how they want to serve.

BOLD Conversations are monthly virtual gatherings designed for AOTA members to connect, engage, and learn in a welcoming and inclusive space. As part of AOTA’s Belonging, Opportunities, Leadership Development (BOLD) initiative, these sessions support the Association’s commitment to expanding equitable access, fostering inclusive leadership, and increasing professional visibility across the occupational therapy community. Please note: BOLD Conversations are offered as community engagement opportunities and are not eligible for CE credit.
