Accepting Applications For AOTPAC Board of Directors: June 30 at 12:00 pm ET - July 27 at 11:59 pm PT
The American Occupational Therapy Political Action Committee (AOTPAC) is recruiting candidates to serve as AOTPAC Director in three (3) regions:
Region I—Term beginning January 1, 2027, and ending December 31, 2029:
- Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Pennsylvania
Region III—Term beginning September 1, 2026, and ending December 31, 2026, fills an existing vacancy. The Region III AOTPAC Director will then have the option to continue for a full-term effective January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2029.
- Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama
Region IV—Term beginning January 1, 2027, and ending December 31, 2029:
- Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Ohio, Montana, Wyoming
Brief Description of the Position
AOTPAC Directors oversee the activities of the American Occupational Therapy Assn. Political Action Committee. Directors participate in fundraising, both individually and collectively, advocate for political action regarding issues that affect the profession and direct the contributions from AOTPAC to candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.

Nominations will only be accepted electronically using AOTA’s online submission system. Your AOTA username and password are required to log into the system.
Follow the online instructions carefully and complete/submit the following:
- Application form for Appointments
- CV or résumé demonstrating academic education, years of experience in occupational therapy, professional accomplishments, and organizational involvement
- Cover letter outlining specific qualifications and leadership skills for the position
- A copy of your voter registration or permanent resident card.
- Evidence of current membership in a state affiliate

Criteria
Nominees must meet the qualifications detailed below, in the AOTPAC SOP, and the AOTPAC Board Member Job Description. Please review these before submitting materials.
Qualifications:
- Shall be a member in good standing of the Association, AOTPAC, and state affiliate at the time of nomination and throughout the term of office. (A member in good standing of AOTPAC means the individual contributes funds each calendar year and continue to contribute each calendar year during the volunteer term. A contribution is required in the current calendar year by the time of application)
- Shall be a U.S. citizen and a registered voter, or a Permanent Resident Card holder .
- Shall reside in the geographic boundaries of the Region they wish to represent.
- Shall have a high level of political awareness demonstrated by past political activities.
- Shall have demonstrated leadership in state and/or national Association activities.
- Shall not serve in any other position at the same time unless designated in a standard operating procedure or appointed to a smaller group of the body to which he or she was elected/appointed.
- Shall have consistent access to a high-speed Internet connection and be comfortable working in a virtual communications environment. This includes opening, saving, editing, and sending attachments in email and other electronic formats as needed
- Shall have knowledge of and familiarity with Official Documents of the Association (including Bylaws, policies, relevant SOP/JD, AOTA Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics (2020), Administrative SOP, and Strategic Plan).

New AOTPAC Regions
In June, the AOTPAC Board of Directors approved changes to the existing AOTPAC Regions, including adding a new Region IV and changing the states in existing Regions. Here are the new Regions effective January 1, 2027:
- Region 1: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Pennsylvania
- Region 2: Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington, DC, US. Virgin Islands, West Virginia
- Region 3: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama
- Region 4: Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas
- Region 5: Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, AOTA Members Who Are US Citizens Residing Overseas
- Region 6: Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Ohio, Montana, Wyoming
