The goal of the Developmental Disabilities Special Interest Section (DDSIS) is to focus on how OT assessment and intervention can facilitate the inclusion of individuals with developmental disabilities in home, school, work, and community life.
DDSIS was one of the five original Special Interest Sections developed by AOTA in 1977 (the others were Gerontology, Mental Health, Physical Disabilities, and Sensory Integration).
The DDSIS provides a forum for practitioners, educators, students, and researchers to exchange information and strategies and network with each other by highlighting best practice, current trends, and research updates.
