On November 14, 2017, AOTA’s Executive Director Search Committee announced that after interviewing four search firms, they have selected Korn Ferry to assist in the process of selecting a new Executive Director. Former Executive Director Frederick P. Somers retired in October.
“They had several differentiating factors, including a parallel process to the search that enables us to be able to move forward according to our desired timeline. In addition, they use a 4-dimension leadership assessment that will facilitate us determining a candidate’s fit with what we are seeking in the next Executive Director. Finally, they are leaders in developing diverse slates and pools of candidates and will be including unconscious bias training with both the Search Committee and the Board of Directors as we move forward into the interviewing process,” said AOTA President Amy Lamb, OTD, BS, OT/L, FAOTA.
AOTA’s Search Committee is composed of AOTA Board members and staff. The Board members are President Amy Lamb; and Board Directors Donna Costa, DHS, OTR/L, FAOTA; Debi Hinerfeld, PhD, MS, OTR/L; Melissa Tilton, OTA, BS, COTA, ROH; and Debra Young, MEd, OTR/L, SCEM, ATP, CAPS.
The AOTA staff members are Frank Gainer, MHS, OTR/L, FAOTA, CMP, CAE, Director of Conferences; Sharmila Sandhu, JD, Counsel and Director of Regulatory Affairs; and Melissa Stutzbach, MS, OTR, Program Manager, Education and Professional Development.
The search will kick off on November 28, 2017, with focus groups of AOTA staff. AOTA will keep membership informed on the progress of this important process.
