Ethics Commission: Speaker Francie Baxter has recently appointed Lea Brandt, OTD, MA, OTR/L, to the role of Ethics Commission Chairperson, following the resignation of Yvette Hactel, JD, MEd, OTR/L. Speaker Baxter has sent her sincere thanks to Dr. Hatchel for her service and well wishes to her in her future endeavors. Lea Brandt has served previously on the EC. In communicating to the EC members, Speaker Baxter stated, "I am confident that she will provide the leadership needed until the next election."

Clinical Registry: AOTA is exploring the development of a clinical registry for occupational therapy, and in support of that, AOTA recently joined the American Medical Association’s National Quality Registry Network (NQRN) as a member of the NQRN Council. Read more.

Accreditation Actions: See the final accreditation decisions made by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE®) at its June 9, 2014 conference call meeting.

Distinct Value Volunteer Opportunity: The AOTA Volunteer Leadership Development Committee (VLDC) is seeking applications for the Distinct Value Ad Hoc Committee, which will be developing a template that will be used by practice area subgroups to articulate statements regarding the distinct value of occupational therapy across six broad practice areas. Applications due July 31.

Reviewers Needed: The Evidence Exchange is a central repository for evidence-based literature reviews and related resources. We're looking for individuals to review critically appraised summaries (CAPs) of research articles. Deadline September 15.

Code of Ethics Review Update: A first draft of the updated and revised Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Ethics Standards (Code and Ethics Standards) will be available mid-August. An accompanying survey will allow members to submit feedback on the draft document—more information here.  

Representative Assembly: Read a summary of the special RA meeting held in June.

AJOT Editor in Chief: AOTA has appointed Lorie Gage Richards, PhD, OTR/L, as the Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Occupational Therapy (AJOT).
