What's New in 2014?

Your Feedback Makes A Difference!

Each year following Conference, attendees receive an online survey from AOTA asking for important feedback on their Annual Conference & Expo experience. Based on this past year’s survey responses, AOTA has made changes for 2014!

  • The registration system has been totally revamped. You probably noticed that you did not receive your badge and special event ticket(s) in the mail. Everything can now be conveniently printed onsite by simply scanning your registration QR code.
  • There is now a Conference App that will help you plan your Conference program, sync your online itinerary with the App, view speaker and exhibitor lists, link to any available handouts, and view floor plans.
  • AOTA has paid for Wi-Fi access at the Baltimore Convention Center to allow the majority of attendees to remain connected to their smartphones and tablets without paying a fee.
  • The Cyber Café has been moved out of the Exhibit Hall and into Registration.  This will give attendees greater access to check their e-mail.
  • A limited number of outlets will be provided in each session room to charge devices.
  • Sessions that have been approved by the Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists for contact hours toward Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS) renewal have been identified with the designation ADED.
  • The Conference Program Guide more prominently displays the advanced-level, intermediate-level, and introductory-level sessions. This will make it easier for you to choose which sessions are most appropriate for you to attend so you get the most out of your Conference experience.
  • AOTA used crowd sourcing to help select the Institutes and Workshops. All 3-hour Workshops are at the advanced or intermediate level.
  • We’ve added a Tech Day Appy Hour on Saturday from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. for everyone interested in discovering or sharing apps.
  • AOTA will be live streaming the Plenary, Presidential Address, and Town Hall to non-attendees.
  • There will be a Leadership Development Networking Reception on Friday evening.
  • In response to the number-one attendee request, which is to receive handouts, greater emphasis is being placed in all speaker communications regarding the importance of providing handout material. Those sessions in which handouts are provided, are listed on the Already Registered page and the Program Planner.
  • For the second year, badge scanning to track CE credit has been discontinued. Attendees can now track the sessions they attend in the Conference Program Guide, and then download their own CE Transcript any time after Annual Conference concludes. You can download your CE Transcript.
  • We are making greater use of social media during Conference, and attendees are encouraged to follow AOTA updates, news, photos, and comments on Twitter and Instagram using hashtag #AOTA14, and to post their own comments and photos on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Look for specially marked Tweet Seats in each session room.
  • We continue to focus on making our Conference greener and more environmentally friendly through online handouts, fewer printed pages, more information on the Web, electronic messages and surveys, and recycling materials and containers.
  • We are expanding efforts to assist our first-time attendees as they prepare for Conference in Baltimore. Assistance will also be available on site to help all attendees navigate the largest AOTA program ever and to find their way around the Convention Center.
  • The Conference website has been reorganized to make it easier to use and find what you are looking for.
  • We are providing a designated lounge space in the Convention Center for attendees to meet and network more easily.
The week after Conference, please be on the lookout for an e-mail from AOTA asking you to complete the online Conference survey. Your participation is important for AOTA to continue making improvements to the Annual Conference & Expo.
