William Janes worked with mentor Deborah Lieberman, MHSA, OTR/L, FAOTA, program director of evidence-based practice at AOTA. William developed tools for practitioners to implement evidence in their practice by finding, evaluating, and implementing the findings of current research in their practice. He also worked on developing a toolkit that practitioners can use to start journal clubs at their facilities.
The program exceeded William’s expectations, and it has helped shaped the leader he plans to be. He also learned how to delegate and relinquish tasks. “I've been forced to realize that never saying ‘no’ to new responsibilities results in taking on more than I can handle,” says William.
How did Emerging Leaders help you to live life to its fullest?
“I finally see a path to leadership within our profession and AOTA. This program has helped me clarify my goals and the path to achieve them,” says William.
