Course Description
Raising the Bar provides an overview of the school mental health (SMH) movement and the unique role of occupational therapy in addressing the mental health and psychosocial needs of children in schools. Webcast highlights include a discussion of service within the 3-tiered model of school–wide SMH using occupation–based practice, positive behavioral supports (PBS), and social–emotional learning (SEL).
Learning Objectives
After completing this session, you will be able to—
- Delineate the school mental health (SMH) movement.
- Identify the leaders in the field of SMH.
- Delineate the role of occupational therapy within a public health, 3-tiered model of SMH.
- Identify best practice strategies to integrate knowledge about occupation-based practice, positive behavioral supports (PBS), and social–emotional learning (SEL) with more traditional occupational therapy approaches.

You will be able to take the exam online immediately following the Webcast. Participants receive a continuing education certificate for .15 AOTA CEU (1.5 NBCOT PDUs/1.5 contact hours) after successful completion of the exam with a score of 80% or better.
To Retake Exam
If you are not successful in passing the Webcast exam, you may opt to retake it a second time for a processing fee of $12.00. To retake the exam, call 877-404-AOTA.
