Presenter Bios
Timothy Holmes, OTR/L, COMS, graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in occupational therapy in December 1988. For the next 2 years, he worked at John Umstead Hospital, a state psychiatric hospital in Butner, North Carolina. In April 1991, he took a position with the University of North Carolina Hospitals. In the 18 years since, he has worked in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and, for the past 4 years, outpatient services. Throughout his career, Holmes has served in state and national volunteer leadership positions, including membership chair and vice president for the North Carolina Occupational Therapy Association and Physical Disabilities Special Interest Section Chair for AOTA. Throughout his career, Holmes has been particularly interested in vision rehabilitation. In the mid–1990s, he began enrolling in courses specific to low vision, and in 2006 obtained certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist in 2006. Holmes also works under contract to Invision Services in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
