Presenter Bio
Felicia Chew, MS, OTR, is director of clinical services–occupational therapy for Genesis Rehab Services. She has 20 years of clinical experience in diverse occupational therapy practice settings, including acute, outpatient, and long-term care. She is an executive board member of the New Jersey Occupational Therapy Association and has presented at the local, state, and national levels in seminars and trainings on clinical and administrative topics. She received a BS in occupational therapy and an MS in occupational therapy leadership from College Misericordia in Dallas, Pennsylvania.
Ms. Chew has worked in long-term care (LTC) settings for the past 13 years. In the LTC arena, she has attended continuing education and vendor-sponsored courses and worked with several wheelchair vendors to gain skills and knowledge in the area of seating and positioning. She was a faculty member at Atlantic Cape Community College (Mays Landing, New Jersey) for 13 years, during which time she drew on multiple resources as well as practical experience to develop a thorough, evidence-based student curriculum. She was a driving force in developing the educational program to meet the needs of clinicians in the long-term care environment as well as to share practical, cost-effective seating solutions.
Vickie Pierman, MSHA, OTR/L, is rehab clinical specialist for Genesis Rehab Services. Ms. Pierman began her career as a COTA, graduating from Union County College in Scotch Plains, New Jersey in 1987. She later received a BS in occupational therapy from Dominican College of Blauvelt in Orangeburg, New York, and an MS in Health Administration from University of St. Frances in Joliet, Illinois.
As a COTA, Ms. Pierman worked in adult and pediatric long-term care (LTC) facilities; school systems; and residential settings addressing the needs of clients with developmental delays and physical and mental challenges. As an OTR, she has practiced in settings that include acute and sub-acute care, pediatric LTC, school systems, outpatient and home care, and skilled nursing with client populations including adults and children with developmental disabilities.
Vickie Pierman has been instrumental in developing seating and positioning programs in several Genesis Rehab departments throughout New Jersey and at a pediatric LTC facility in New Jersey, and has served as a Genesis regional resource on seating and positioning. She is a member of the New Jersey Occupational Therapy Association and has presented on clinical topics and trainings at the state and local level. She has attended continuing education courses sponsored by wheelchair and durable medical equipment suppliers. In addition, she has worked with RESNA-certified suppliers to gain knowledge and skills regarding adult and pediatric seating and positioning, power mobility, and assistive technologies as they relate to positioning and mobility.
