Course Description

AOTA is pleased to offer the new Evidence-Based Review of Interventions Used in Occupational Therapy for Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder CEonCD™ course to occupational therapy professionals. The course identifies the primary issues in children with ASD that limit their daily occupations and participation in school, home, and community settings. Based on an extensive review of the research literature, the evidence-based interventions provided by occupational therapy practitioners for children with ASD will be identified and described.

Originally presented as an AudioInsight™ Seminar entitled Autism: Evidence for the AOTA Practice Guidelines in December 2007, the course has been significantly expanded to include more application of the trials on autism interventions.

Course Highlights

  • Explains interventions and their effects using the following categories: (1) sensory integration/sensory based; (2) social/cognitive skills training; (3) relationship-based interactive; (4) early intensive behavioral/positive behavioral support; (5) parent mediated; and (6) developmental skill based.
  • Addresses specific findings and interpretation of the findings
