Occupational Therapy Licensure Bill Clears Michigan Legislature
On Thursday, December 18, the Michigan Occupational Therapy Association (MiOTA) scored a major victory in their licensure efforts when the House passed Senate Bill 921, which provides for licensure of occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants. The bill returned briefly to the Senate December 19 for a concurrence vote on the House amendments and will be sent to Governor Jennifer M. Granholm for approval. MiOTA, with the support of AOTA, will be working diligently to secure the governor’s signature on the bill. AOTA members in Michigan are asked to support the licensure initiative by contacting the governor and asking that she sign S.B. 921.
