OTs May Qualify for a 1.5% Medicare Bonus Payment in 2007
Under Medicare's new quality reporting initiative, occupational therapists who provide Medicare outpatient occupational therapy services may earn additional reimbursement for reporting on quality measures. This new program, PQRI (Physician Quality Reporting Initiative), is slated to be implemented in July 2007.
It will be available to therapists and physicians providing Medicare outpatient services and using the National Provider Identifier. AOTA is working closely with CMS on the relevant specifications for occupational therapists. AOTA is pleased to announce that a CMS official from the Chicago Regional Office will be a guest presenter at the Medicare Update (WS111) on Friday, April 20, at the AOTA 87th Annual Conference and Exposition, explaining how to participate in the PQRI.
