Special Interest Section Student Internship Program

Program Outline

The Special Interest Sections recognize that students play a key role in the future of our profession and in the realization of our Centennial Vision.  In order to increase student interest in the SIS and to develop future leaders, the SIS is continuing its student internship program.

Applications should be submitted directly to Dr. Donna Costa, the Chair of the Special Interest Section Council.  Dr. Costa will forward applications to each Special Interest Section Chair (SIS).  The SIS committee will select intern(s) (a maximum of 2 interns for each SIS may be selected, depending on SIS need and qualifications of applicants) according to the scoring criteria.

The selected intern(s) will participate in SIS virtual group meetings and optional SIS-related projects at the direction of the chairperson, and will disseminate SIS information to student populations.  Student interns may, for example, assist with the development of fact sheets, work collaboratively with other SIS interns across practice areas on common tasks, and/or organize data for upcoming projects.  Chairpersons or identified committee representatives will serve as leadership mentors by collaborating with the intern(s) to select appropriate projects and opportunities for enrichment and education about the leadership structures and processes of AOTA.

Who Should Apply?
