Vision Timeline

  • June 2006 - The Centennial Commission meets.

  • April 2006 - AOTA's vice president presents a final report to the AOTA Representative Assembly at AOTA's Annual Conference & Expo. The Centennial Vision statement is approved by the Representative Assembly (RA). The RA approves the creation of the Centennial Commission, an ad hoc committee, to oversee the implementation of strategic initiatives in the Centennial Vision.

  • January 2006 - AOTA leaders and other stakeholders participate in a visioning process and strategic planning. The participants review all data and feedback; hold extensive dialogue; adopt a draft Centennial Vision statement; and use the vision to create AOTA's strategic plan.

    Earlier in the month, a Centennial Vision conference retreat is held in Maryland for representatives of all of AOTA's component bodies: professional partners such as the American Occupational Therapy Foundation and the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy; special interest caucuses and networks; students; and a cross section of practitioners, educators, scientists, and AOTA staff. 

  • December 2005 - Association and profession-wide feedback from surveys, forum, and visioning sessions is collected and analyzed.

  • May 2005 - AOTA's former Vice President Charles Christiansen presents a Visioning PowerPoint™ to AOTA's governance and state association leadership bodies. Dr. Christiansen introduces the strategic planning, visioning, and discussion processes needed to create a centennial vision.
