"Healthy Kids, Healthy Future" Conference
Healthy Kids, Healthy Future, is a 2-day conference in Washington, DC on September 23-24 that may be of interest to pediatric occupational therapy practitioners and students.
Conference organizers suggest that early childhood care settings “offer an ideal and largely untapped opportunity to promote healthy eating and physical activity.”
The conference will feature speakers that include children’s health and early education experts, government officials, scholars, public health officials and early care program administrators, who will examine the link between early childhood care and childhood obesity.
Through a series of panels, break-out sessions and workshops, speakers and participants will examine the life habits formed in childhood, the impact early care programs have on them and public policy’s current and potential role in early care obesity prevention programs. Representatives from model early care health programs will also participate, providing blueprints for future legislation and programs.
