Canalith Reposition (CPT Code 95922) Added to “Sometimes Therapy” Code List
The Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS) has added Canalith repositioning to the CY 2011 therapy code list. For more on this, see 2011 Update to the Therapy Code List, Transmittal 2175, Change Request 7364 (March 18, 2011).
CPT code 95992 (Standard Canalith repositioning procedure(s); e.g., Epley maneuver, Semont maneuver) has been added as a “sometimes therapy” code effective January 1, 2011. Although the addition has been made retroactively, contractors may not be able to update their systems to process and reimburse for the code until July 1, 2011. Occupational therapists denied payment will have to resubmit their claims after system updates are complete—there will be no automatic adjustments.
