Volunteer Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I get a discounted registration if I volunteer to work at AOTA’s Annual Conference & Expo?
* AOTA does not provide a discounted Registration for volunteering. If you pay for Conference Registration, you will have access to the Expo and all educational sessions, as well as receive contact hours for those courses that you attend and/or scan.
2. What if I do not pay the Conference Registration fee—can I still volunteer?
* Yes. If you do not pay for Conference Registration, you can attend the courses that you scan. You are not able to attend other educational sessions, nor will you earn contact hours unless you pay a fee for the contact hours ($25/3 contact hours). This fee can be paid on-site, and you will receive a letter indicating what sessions you attended and how many contact hours you earned.
3. If I volunteer, can I get into the Expo?
* You do not have access to the Expo unless:
a) you are an AOTA member and volunteer for at least 4 hours, then you would receive a free pass to enter the Expo on either Friday or Saturday; or
b) you pay to attend the Expo "a la carte" ($50 for Thursday, $30 for Friday, and $30 for Saturday). Tickets to the Expo can be purchased on-site.
Note: Volunteers in the Marketplace have access to the Expo at the end of their shift but are not able to attend educational sessions (unless they volunteer to scan sessions).
4. What am I able to access if I volunteer for the Hospitality Booth or the Accessibility Services and Information Booth?
* You are not able to attend the educational sessions nor the Expo (unless you are an AOTA member and volunteer for at least 4 hours, then you would receive a free pass to enter the Expo on either Friday or Saturday). Of course, if you have registered for Conference, you can attend any educational sessions and have unlimited access to the Expo.
5. Are Poster Sessions considered educational sessions?
* Yes, the Poster Sessions are considered educational sessions and you must register for Conference to attend the Poster Sessions.
