Why does AOTA need my NBCOT certification number?
Your NBCOT certification number confirms that you are an OT or OTA which is required to become an AOTA Practitioner member and receive full benefits.
What if I have not yet received my NBCOT certification number?
Call AOTA at 800-SAY-AOTA (800-729-2682) if you are scheduled to take your NBCOT certification exam within the next 3 months and you can join as an OT or OTA member.
What if I want to join AOTA without taking the NBCOT exam?
You are welcome to join AOTA as an Individual Associate member and will receive most membership benefits but will not be able to vote in AOTA elections or participate in volunteer leadership positions.
What if I want to join AOTA as a 1st Year Practitioner or 2nd Year Practitioner?
To qualify as a 1st- or 2nd-Year Practitioner, you must have received your NBCOT certificate within 12 months prior to the date you join AOTA.
